Grand Master of Masons, State of South Carolina
Hon. David E.Thompson, 32º
3196 Conner Lane
Orangeburg, SC 29118
Greetings,
As Grand Master of Masons for the Most Worshipful Palmetto Grand Lodge of South Carolina and jurisdiction, I summit a summary report. I am pleased to report that the overall state of the craft is excellent. First, I would like to thank all the brothers and sisters for your support this past year. This Grand Lodge provided many community services in 2008 while preparing to host the 54th National Triennial Session with great success and I thank you. When I think of Freemasonry I think about
FUN, FELLOWSHIP, FAMILY, FRIENDSHIP, and PHILANTHROPY. We are in the people business and we need to learn and address the needs of our members. Understand that membership is cyclical it can be up or down. Everyone has a need for association, it is still a basic human need and this organization can meet that need. The Grand Lodge worked meticulously to increase its revenue, to reduce its expenditures, and to improve its fiscal accountability. As most of you know the economy is in a state of recession
(a shrinking economy). People are losing their jobs, cars, homes, and investments due to this economic crisis. So we must embrace for the future of this great organization. We must continue to plan and guide our members for future success by providing the best leadership we can under these difficult times. In closing, it truly has been my honor and pleasure to serve this great jurisdiction. It remains my fervent prayer that my performance and deportment warrants your trust and confidence to allow me to continue to serve this Grand Lodge and Jurisdiction. May the blessing of heaven continue to shower you with Love, Joy, and Happiness!
Thank you.
